After exploring New Territories I finally left Hong Kong and had another 6000 km flight towards Dubai. I thought it is in Kyiv time zone, but Dubai is in GMT+4, just 4 hours difference with Hong Kong. After arrival the customs suddenly were interested in my rather small backpack. They searched it twice, two different oficials. Well, this is what happened in Israel 1 year ago. Maybe, I should avoid Middle East like a plague, shouldn't I? My computer is now dead again as I didn't expect they have British plugs here. I do have a plug converter, but guess what? It is in my checked luggage at the airport.

Well, the day is formally still lasting as I'm onboard the train to Nuremberg but as it will definitely get me home I can write a report as if the day is over.

So, how was Dubai? It was fucking hot. I didn't expect +10 or whatever, after all I was coming from tropical Hong Kong with +18 during the day. But it was fucking hot and this is winter now. How do they survive in summer?

This is true that the development of Dubai was greatly influenced by American cities. Up to the point that they even have yellow school buses. Although Dubai now has metro which is designed in line with recently built subway systems in Asia and Europe. I was expecting nouveau riche kind of design, but there is nothing like this, all the stations look the same as it is all over the world except CIS countries.

As we were approaching Dubai I saw 4 planes landing and taking off simultaneously. Only then I realised how busy Dubai airport is, although it is now that big. The sky was clear all the time so I could see the lights of Karachi, Bangkok and of course Dubai. During the flight to Munich I also saw Bagdad from the plane as we were flying all the way through Iraq and then proceeded to Turkey. There was one plane following us all the time. I even thought that American forces are escorting us for our safety, but after several hours I realised that this is OUR plane, the wing was so long and almost invisible at night that I got wrong impression.

So, I landed in my starting point exactly 30 days after take off, in Munich. Germany is so... familiar. Nobody asks you stupid questions at the border, nobody is interested in smelly socks in my bag, nobody reminds you about the gap between the train and the platform. Before this trip I actually didn't know that such a fucking gap exists. No turnstiles, no police at every corner and no place to eat in as it is verboten to work on Sunday in Bavaria. I was so homesick!
